NEW PLAYERS WELCOME AGAIN (WE HOPE!)
by Hazed
I am writing this news on Saturday morning (UK time). It’ll be published on Sunday morning (UK time). By the time you read it, the Sunday reset may, or may not have happened, depending on your time zone, and whether you like to have a lie-in on a Sunday. Which makes deciding what tense to use when reporting on code that will go in at Sunday’s reset rather tricky...
But here goes.
As I write, Alan is putting the finishing touches to the code that will stop more than one person from setting up an account at a time. The “one in, one out” code will be put into the game at Sunday’s reset, assuming everything goes to plan.
At that time, the notice that tells players that new accounts can’t be set up will still be in place. However, anybody who uses FedTerm’s new account screen to set up a new account will be able to do so, and those using other front-ends can start the new account process by typing “new” as before.
Once a few people have tried it, and Alan is happy that it all works as it should - without the game crashing - he’ll remove the notice and as from Monday’s reset things will go back to normal.
Fingers (or equivalent) crossed!
