System Defence Vessels

Description:
Non-jump capable defence space warships. Because of the space and tonnage saved by not carrying hyper capable equipment, these vessels are, size for size, faster and more powerful than similar sized jump-capable warships. On the other hand, by definition, they have no offensive capability.

Effect:
Each ship built causes a 1% increase in efficiency of defence industries, up to a maximum of 5%, plus one additional consumption point for use on any defence industry commodity, up to a maximum of ten points.

Duration:
Can be built at technological and higher levels. Consumption points gained from defence vessels are lost when the planet advances to the next economic level, but the build remains on the planet.

Command:
'BUILD DEFENCE commodity', where 'commodity' is the defence commodity to which you wish to allocate the consumption point. You cannot demolish this build.
