DEFENCE BUILDS

Planetary Defence Base

Description:
Ground based planetary defences. Powerful, but fixed, and therefore vulnerable to bombardment - if the opponent can get close enough. Weaponry is mainly short range interceptor and missile based, since beam weapons do not usually have the range to attack orbiting vessels.

Effect:
Worth one extra production point in any defence industry commodity, up to a maximum of five points.

Planetary Defence Base build - these weapons stand ready to defend your planet from attack.

Duration:
Can be built at agricultural, resource and industrial levels. Production points gained from defence builds are lost when the planet advances to the next economic level, but the build remains on the list until it is demolished.

Command:
'BUILD BASE commodity', where 'commodity' is the defence commodity to which you wish to allocate the production point. You can remove the build with 'DEMOLISH BASE' at technological levels and above.
