PLANETARY INFRASTRUCTURE BUILDS

COMMUNICATION BUILDS

Heliograph and Signal Towers build - this sophisticated device uses the simplest of communications methods.

Heliograph and signal towers

Description:
Early methods of signaling over distances included beacon fires, flags, and mirrors reflecting sunlight (heliographs). By the end of the pre-electric era, chains of signal towers using wooden arms on the towers as semaphores were constructed to pass messages across country. The signal towers, though primitive, were effective, but required substantial capital investment because they all have to be in line of sight of one another.

More modern systems usually use self cleaning mirrors mounted on high platforms or towers.

Effect:
Worth one extra production point in any agriculture or resource commodity, up to a maximum of five points.

Duration:
Can be built at agriculture and resource levels. Production points gained from heliograph builds are lost when the planet advances to the next level, but the build remains on the list until it is demolished.

Command:
'BUILD HELIOGRAPH commodity', where 'commodity' is the agri or resource commodity to which you wish to allocate the production point. You can remove the build with 'DEMOLISH HELIOGRAPH' at industrial levels and above.
