RONIN'S
FED RADIO TOP TEN1. AK1200 - Drowning
This is one of the first drum and bass songs I ever
heard, and one of the greatest - it started my love of
that genre and I've never looked back since then; aside
from that it's widely considered to be the Drum and Bass
Anthem.
2. NOFX - The Decline
I've always been an
anti-corporate/anti-establishment/anti-big government
kind of person. I'm also not happy with the state of the
world - this song does a good job of putting all those
feelings into a song. (Note that the actual song was too
large, at 25 MB, so a different NOFX song was sent. That
song doesn't have much meaning... but it's about clams,
so it's funny.)
3. BT - Flaming June
One of my favorite techno/trance songs ever. It sounds
good to me.
4. Reel Big Fish - She
Has a Girlfriend Now
A funny song (that I like a lot).
5. Kosheen - Hungry
I really like this song - no particular special memory to
attach to it. Although IRL I'm a chef, and this song was
played on the Food Network for a while
6. Flogging Molly -
Tobacco Island
This song is about pirates, and I really like pirates.
7. Sublime - Jailhouse
I grew up listening to a lot of punk/reggae/ska/modern
rock. Of all the guitarists of the modern rock world,
Bradley Nowell is my all time favorite
guitarist/singer/songwriter. While this particular song
isn't really special, it's a good song - and in memory of
Bradley Nowell, who is deceased (of a drug overdose, but
the rock world still misses him).
8. 311 - Cali Soca
(live)
Since I was eleven, my favorite band has and always will
be 311 - and you can't experience 311 unless you see them
live. My favorite memories of my favorite people always
involve going to see 311 rock the house. It was really
tough picking one song from them that I like the most. In
the end, I couldn't so I went through my collection of
live songs, and picked an instrumental
9. RunDMC - Peter Piper
I also have a great appreciation of hip-hop, especially
the older songs and groups. In the end it came down to a
choice between this and a Sugarhill Gang song. There is
no particular special memory, I just like this song from
what I consider to be the good days of Hip-hop.
10. Deftones - Knife
Party
The Deftones are another mainstay of my 'favorite bands'
list. I did, however, buy the album that this song is on
in Japan. And the ensuing search for a plug adapter so I
could use my Discman was pretty interesting, because I
really wanted to hear the album, and I couldn't speak
much Japanese.
