FELINA'S 1999 RECOMMENDATIONS

Books: John Sandford's Prey Series

I couldn't narrow down his books to one, I've enjoyed them all. I love to read and enjoy reading mysteries mostly. I first read the book "Night Prey" and I couldn't put it down. I went to look for another book by this author and discovered the books were all part of a series. I've read them all now except for "Certain Prey" which just came out this year (and I'm hoping to get for Christmas).

Lucas Davenport is the main character, a deputy police chief who tracks serial killers. You become involved with him and his life as you work through the series so if you're going to read them it's good to read them in order. Since I started a little further in his life I backtracked a little on the personal side when I went back to start at the beginning of the series. If you enjoy mysteries, then I definitely recommend John Sanford's books.

CD: Madman Across the Water
Elton John

This is definitely an oldie but one of my all time favorites. I had almost forgotten how good this album was until I had to pick some favorites.

Music evokes memories for me. When I hear songs from the past, places or people come to mind. This album brings back nice memories but aside from the memories this is really a good album... errrr CD. It has some of my favorite Elton John songs including "Tiny Dancer," and "Levon" which were big hits of his at the time. But the whole album is good and worth listening to. "Razor Face" and "Madman across the Water" are two others that stand out. Anyway, two thumbs up... 5 stars... whatever measurement you use this is worth listening to.

Video: Sleepless in Seattle

This is a sappy feel good movie that is one of my favorites. I love Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan; together they have tremendous chemistry. I know the story is ummmm slightly unbelieveable.... but fantasy is a good thing. It's nice to think the girl gets the guy of her dreams, or vice versa. Whenever I want to escape from - well, whatever I need to escape from, this is a great way to do it. It makes me smile, it makes me cry and it leaves me with a nice feeling. Like those plain comfort foods that you grew up with but wouldn't tell people you like, this to me is a comfort food in movie form - and hey - less calories.
