Dot Matrix's
Christmas Bulletin 1

Hazed has finally pushed off out of the office, going away to do whatever she plans to do this year. I hope it involves her getting plenty of rest and relaxation, so that when she returns her temper will be a little better - the poor newsdroids have been bearing the brunt of it this year. That's why I spent most of my time out of the office on assignment.

The year was notable for me because I started out as an assistant junior trainee newsdroid, but after the success of my bulletins over the last holiday period, I was soon promoted to roving investigative newdroid, which is why I was able to stay away from the demi-divine one's temper! But now I am spending a few weeks back in the office.

The few droids that haven't been beaten to a metallic pulp by the demi-goddess have crawled shakily off to get themselves repaired. So I have the office to myself. Peace and quiet. Ah, bliss! With Bella away for a week, I won't even have any real news to send out - I shouldn't have much to do at all. Still, before I devote my time to playing 4D tetris, I have a few announcements to make. So here goes.

SANTA'S GROTTO OPEN FOR BUSINESS

Santa is visiting Fed DataSpace again, and he has re-opened his grotto on Earth, NE from the LP. You can go and sit on the old man's lap, get a candy cane if you've been nice (and coal if you haven't) and help yourself to a toy from the lucky dip tub. You can also take a magical ride on his sleigh. Santa is also one of those chatty mobiles who will talk to you - start by typing 'SANTA HELLO' then see where the conversation takes you.

If you use FedTerm as your front-end, you can download Santa's picture from the picture gallery at http://www.ibgames.net/fed2/fedterm/gallery/index.html.

Santa isn't the only one offering Christmas spirit this year. Diesel has redecorated the bar and the roof garden of Chez Diesel on Mars, and is offering free food and drink to her customers. You'll also find various other locations around Sol have put up some decorations for the festive season.

And you just can't avoid the fruitcake - it seems wherever you go in Sol you'll be tripping over the stuff. It's truly ubiquitous.

ALAN'S BEST BOOKS OF THE YEAR

Alan has been posting notes on his website all year about the books he has been reading, and now he's compiled a list of his favorites. You can read it at http://www.ibgames.net/alan/reviews/best2007.html.

CHRISTMAS HOLIDAY TRADITIONS

As you gather together with your friends and loved ones, in a room decked with seasonal greenery, you might wonder just where the Christmas traditions that we follow come from. Well, wonder now more, because here's some explanations.

Well, that's this year's first bulletin out of the way - now it's back to tetris...
