HOW TO REPORT BUGS AND REQUEST NEW FEATURES

by Hazed

Players often send us emails reporting bugs in Fed2, or requesting that we add a new feature. Alan’s system of keeping track of these reports involves scrawling notes on paper napkins in green crayon. But that’s not very efficient and leads to things getting lost.

So he’s come up with a new way for you to report problems with Federation, which is designed to avoid the present situation where such items can get ‘lost in the works’. Alan has opened the Bitbucket Issues Tracker for Federation to the players. Federation has a code repository on Bitbucket and the Issues Tracker is part of that (for the techies, Federation uses git as its version control system with repos on both Alan’s Linux kit and Bitbucket).

It’s been set up so that you don’t have to have a Bitbucket account to use the tracker, but you will need to tell us at least your Fed player name as part of the message! Of course, if you already have a Bitbucket account, you can sign in and use that, if you wish to avoid proving that you are a human...

You can also use the tracker to request new features, but of course we reserve the right to say no, especially if they will mess up the game play. It’s a good idea to take a look at all the new features that have already been requested, to see if your brilliant idea has already been suggested and rejected!

The URL for adding issues to the tracker is
https://bitbucket.org/alan_lenton/federation-2/issues/new

And you can look at the outstanding, unresolved issues at https://bitbucket.org/alan_lenton/federation-2/issues?status=new&status=open

Figuring out how to look at ALL the issues, including the ones that have been dealt with, is left as an exercise for the reader!
