GADGET OF THE WEEK: DRONE POOPER SCOOPER
by Hazed
Regular dog-walkers will know that these days you have to carry with you a supply of plastic bags with which to scoop up the mess your pooch leaves behind. Failure to do so results in dog poop left on the pavement or in the park, where it inconveniences others and ultimately has to be cleaned up by the local authorities.
So a way to automate clearing up discarded dog mess can only be a good thing. Enter the drone pooper scooper developed by Dutch dog fan website Tinki.nl and a company called Space53. They have come up with a two-pronged approach to dealing with dog mess.
First, a flying drone called Watchdog1 uses thermal imaging kit to spot freshly deposited poop, recording its location. Then the data is send to Patroldog1, a rolling drone that scoops up the poop.
What a marvellous invention. There’s a video of the drones in action here.
