REAL LIFE NEWS: BEWARE OF DISPLAYING YOUR FINGERPRINTS IN A PHOTO

Researchers in Japan say that it won’t be long before the technology exists to replicate a person’s fingerprints by lifting them from a photo.
The scientists from Japan’s National Institute of Informatics warn that fingerprints could be copied from photos taken at distances of up to three metres away, if they were captured clearly in strong lightning. While the technology that is needed to replicate fingerprints is not currently considered advanced, it could be just two years away.
So anyone displaying their fingertips to the camera could be at risk. Making a peace sign or the Vulcan greeting, or looking as if you’re about to high-five the camera, could leave you vulnerable to having your prints stolen from a photo.
