Good news for coffee addicts – it looks like caffeine could extend your life.
A team at Stanford University have discovered that caffeinated drinks can combat underlying chronic inflammatory processes which are linked to diseases such as cancer, Alzheimer’s and dementia. The effect was particularly apparent in older people.
The researchers found that by-products of nucleic acids known as metabolites drive chronic inflammation and therefore mortality, but the effect could be partly countered by substances found in caffeine.
Good news. I’ll put the kettle on!
