REAL LIFE NEWS: WHAT MAKES PEOPLE HAPPY?

A new study which has been examining what makes people happy has concluded that good mental health and having a partner are much more effective than doubling your income.
The London School of Economics asked 200,000 people about how different factors impacted their wellbeing. The thing that hit individuals hardest was suffering from depression or anxiety, while the biggest increase in happiness came from being in a relationship.
Unemployment was also a large negative factor, as you would expect.
Report co-author Prof Richard Layard said, “The evidence shows that the things that matter most for our happiness and for our misery are our social relationships and our mental and physical health.”
The conclusion is that like the songs say, money does not buy happiness. Of course, it buys a much better class of misery!
