NO FED2 STAR NEXT WEEK

The Star is taking a break next week. August is traditionally the silly season, when news is hard to come by – Galactic Administration officials have all gone on the extended summer holidays beloved of civil servants, even ones that work on planets whose seasons don’t match those of Earth. So the newsdroids haven’t had much to work with. They are still relatively junior droids and so are not as skilled at spinning news gold from straw as they could be. Even celebs like Brix Chanterel are taking it easy, not generating the ‘news’ that they usually do by sleeping with inappropriate people/things or sending out photos of parts of their anatomy that really should be kept private. Who can forget the time that Aldebaraan holo-star Zizzy Zipppzo broadcast a hologram of her enlarged ovipositor and almost broke the comms sytems!
In the real world, the silly season seems to have been cancelled this year as one disaster follows another shock. Still, the subjects that I usually write about – space, science and stupid criminals – do seem to have slowed down a bit.
The Star will return on Sunday August 13; we’ll then publish every week until I take my summer holiday at some point in September, the actual date of which I have decided yet!
