PICTURES OF THE WEEK: SPACESHIP DASHBOARDS THROUGH THE AGES

When Yuri Gagarin was launched into orbit to become the first man in space, the dashboard of his Vostok-1 ship had only about 25 switches and controls on it. Compare that to modern day spaceships and you will see how much the dashboards have changed. The space shuttle had nearly two thousand controls on it, but even that is starting to look old-fashioned as touch screens change the look yet again.
