Many of the countries that were once part of the Soviet Union but are now independent have had a tricky decision to make: what to do with all of the statues of Stalin, Lenin and other communist figures which littered the landscape?
Many places have torn them down. Others have kept them out of nostalgia. In Budapest they’ve set up a special sculpture park where you can see the fallen idols.
Or you can give your communist statue a makeover. That’s what they did in the city of Odessa in Ukraine, where a statue of Lenin has been given a sci-fi twist.
They’ve transformed it into Darth Vader!
The statue was due to be demolished, but instead it’s been given the shiny black helmet and mask. What’s more, it emits free wi-fi from the helmet.
Brilliant!
