DUMB CRIMINAL OF THE WEEK: ROBBING A RELATIVE

If you’re going out on the rob, you don’t want to be recognised while you are committing your crime. Which made Kyle Iveson’s decision to hold up a convenience store rather unfortunate – because his former mother-in-law was working there.
The 24-year-old from Lancashire, England, went into the shop with a twelve-inch knife and stole £650. When he realised the shop worker he was holding up was actually the mother of his former wife, he changed his voice, but it was too late: she had already realised who he was.
Karen Brown explained, “He was shouting and swearing and straight away I knew it was him. He was one of those people who has a certain type of walk and although he had a scarf around his face and his hood up, I recognised him a mile off.”
The encounter has left Mrs Brown scared to deal with customers who wear hoodies.
Iveson has been jailed for three years after pleading guilty to robbery and possession of the knife.
