REAL LIFE NEWS: CONNECTED BABIES
by Hazed
Last time it was collars to monitor dog’s health, this issue it’s babies that get the remote sensor treatment. Not in collars, but in their dummies (or pacifiers as I believe my American readers would call them).
A start-up in the UK has come up with a Bluetooth dummy called the Pacifi which will measure the baby’s temperature. An app for the iPhone/iPad and for Android will let you see the time and temperature which means you’ll be able to check the effect of medication and record it for the doctor if necessary.
The Pacifi will also sound an alert if the dummy moves too far from the baby (who has been fitted with another sensor) so you will be able to retrieve the dummy if the little darling throws it out of the pram or spits it across the room. It will also help you find the dummy if it gets lost.
The dummy is waiting for regulatory approvals and all going well, it will be available to buy in the autumn, priced around £25 ($42).
