REAL LIFE NEWS: WHY MEN CAN’T REMEMBER YOUR BIRTHDAY

It’s a stereotype often used for comedic purposes that men cannot remember birthdays or wedding anniversaries. But it turns out that this inability may not just be laziness or because they don’t care – they genuinely have worse memories than women.
Norwegian scientists have demonstrated gender differences in memory which show that men really do have more problems than women in remembering dates, faces or conversations.
The researchers asked 48,000 people nine questions about how good they thought their memories were. For example, they were asked how often they had problems remembering things, if they could remember details from conversations, if they could remember what they did a year ago, and whether they had difficulties remembering names and dates.
The result: men reported the most problems. While women do have some memory problems they are nothing like as widely reported. What’s more, the age of the men didn’t make any difference to the memory problems they reported: whether they were 30 or 60 years old, they still had bad memories!
So anyone in a relationship with a man: the next time he forgets your birthday, don’t get cross, because it’s not his fault.
