DUMB CRIMINAL OF THE WEEK: DRINK-DRIVER GRASSED UP BY PET PARAKEET

A 49-year-old called Guillermo was driving in Mexico City while somewhat worse the wear for alcohol. Cops pulled him over and no doubt he thought he could try to talk his way out of trouble by declaring he was sober as a judge, but things did not go to plan.
Before he even had a chance to get out of the car, police heard a voice from inside shouting “Está borracho, está borracho,” which translates as “He’s drunk, he’s drunk.”
They shone a flashlight into the back of the vehicle and discovered that the betraying voice belonged to the driver’s parakeet!
Acting on this tip-off, the police breathalysed the driver and found he was, indeed, drunk so was sent to chokey for a short stay. Meanwhile, the Animal Control Brigade were called to take charge of his feathered friend, but Guillermo begged them to reconsider on the grounds that being separated from him would kill the bird, so the parakeet joined him in his jail cell.
He clearly doesn’t hold a grudge against the bird that betrayed him!
