REAL LIFE NEWS: TAKING PHOTOS STOPS YOU PAYING ATTENTION
by Hazed
You either experience something, or you photograph it, but you can’t do both. That’s the conclusion of a new study which shows that the act of taking photos blunts your memory.
Scientists sent a group of students around an art gallery. Some of them were told to just look at the exhibits and others to photograph them. Afterwards, they were tested to see how much they remembered of what they had seen, and the ones who took the pictures retained much less information than the ones without cameras.
So next time you are tempted to stare at something through the medium of your smartphone’s screen, try raising your eyes and looking at it for real instead!
