REAL LIFE NEWS: CONTROLLING A COPTER WITH YOUR MIND
by Hazed
This really is the stuff of science fiction dreams: researchers have demonstrated a thought-controlled helicopter.
The system works using a cap to read the electrical activity of the brain. It has to be trained to recognise the patterns in the electroencephalograph, and only works reliably with thoughts related to motion. For example, making a fist with the left hand (or simply thinking about doing it) would generate a strong and repeatable pattern which the system could be trained to take as an instruction to steer to the left.
A similar system has been used to steer a motorised wheelchair and it can also be used to allow those who have impaired movement to control a computer. But flying a helicopter using the power of your brain is so cool!
There's more information, and a video of the copter in action, at the source link below.
