REAL LIFE NEWS: THANKSGIVING IN SPACE
by Hazed
I hope you all enjoyed Thanksgiving, with lots of lovely home-cooked food including a massive turkey and all the traditional accompaniments.
Spare a thought for the astronauts aboard the International Space Station whose Thanksgiving feast wasn’t quite that appetizing. Yes, they did have turkey and so on, but not exactly home-cooked or freshly prepared.
There are no fridges or freezers aboard the ISS, so all the food has to be in a form that remains edible at room temperature – this usually means it’s vacuum packed in plastic bags.
NASA has released a video in which the astronauts explain exactly what their Thanksgiving meal will consist of. The page also has links to other vids about preparing food for space.
