Drying laundry in your home is dangerous. Stop at once! Go hang it on your clothesline outside, in your garden or your yard, or you are endangering your health.
It’s dangerous because it produces moisture, which can pose a health risk to those who suffer from asthma, hay fever and other allergies.
This piece of nonsense comes from the Mackintosh School of Architecture, which studied 100 homes in Glasgow, Scotland, and discovered that many of them had too much moisture indoors. They attribute this to the fact that 87% dried their washing indoors in colder weather.
Researcher Rosalie Menon was shocked by what these findings: “Going into people’s homes, we found they were drying washing in their living rooms, in their bedrooms.”
How terrible!
Well, she seems to have overlooked the problem that many homes - mine included - are flats or apartments, so don’t have anywhere to dry laundry outside.
But there’s a solution to this, apparently: housebuilders should build dedicated drying areas into new housing. Ms Menon said: “These spaces should be independently heated and ventilated. It’s very much going back to the airing cupboards we saw in more historical types of housing.”
What a lovely idea! What should they leave out in order to make space for the dedicated drying area?
Another example of idealistic idiots who don’t understand the realities of modern living.
