REAL LIFE NEWS: OR MAYBE NOT...

by Hazed

Ok, it would be fantastic news if chocolate really did make you thin, but it turns out there are serious flaws in the study which throw all the conclusions into question.

Number one is that the data was taken from a survey which asked people to remember how much chocolate they had eaten — and that’s a notoriously unreliable way to record eating patterns. People lie, or forget, under- or over-estimating their prior intake.

The study also didn’t take any notice of what kind of chocolate people ate. Dark, milk, white, or what? They all have different amounts of cocoa, fat and sugar which could affect their calorie content.

So it seems we can’t stuff our faces with Easter eggs and expect to lose weight after all. But then, you knew that already, didn’t you? If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
