ROMANTIC GADGET OF THE WEEK: THE KISS MESSENGER

by Hazed

Long distance relationships can be lonely and frustrating affairs. Sure, you can communicate by computer, using webcams to gaze longingly into each others eyes from afar, but you are missing the ability to hug, to touch, to kiss.

Until now.

In another case of real life imitating Fed, an artificial intelligence researcher has come up with a remote kiss called the kiss messenger, or Kissenger. The basic idea is two robots, both outfitted with an artificial pair of lips, so the kiss can be transferred over long distance.

Hmm. Sounds decidedly creepy, particularly when you read that the Kissingers are "small, pig-like robots with floppy ears and googly-eyes." Really? Who thought that lovers would want to smooch with a pig? (Kermit the Frog excepted.)
