CHRISTMAS NEWS: INFLATION HITS THE TWELVE DAYS OF CHRISTMAS

by Hazed

The financial crisis has seen prices rise, hitting people hard as they struggle to make ends meet. But it's not just every day goods like food and household necessities that have gone up in price. No, romantics who want to emulate the famous Christmas song are also going to have dig deeper.

The price list for all the items mentioned in The Twelve Days of Christmas has gone up 4.4% since last year, putting it at $101,119.84. That's according to a report which looked at the prices of the 364 items that the classic song lists, and then checked the prices from a variety of stores, including jewelry stores, dance companies, pet retailers and the National Aviary in Pittsburgh.

The biggest price jump was in the two turtle doves, which now cost $125 - a 25% increase, due to the rising cost of feed. Partridges are also up 14.2% to $15.

Maids-a-milking, ladies dancing and lords-a-leaping remained at the same price, while gold rings were a little cheaper thanks to gold prices dropping over the year.
