GADGET OF THE WEEK: MICROWAVE MOVIES

Microwaving food is sooooo boring. You have wait for whole minutes before your dinner is ready. What you need is a way to occupy yourself while you wait. So how about a video microwave? That is, a microwave that plays videos while it nukes your food.

And not just any videos. The clever thing reads the cooking time that you set, then searches for a YouTube clip for the same duration, which then plays on a tablet mounted to the front of the oven.

This ingenious device comes from classmates at the University of Pennsylvania, who came up with the idea for the 2011 PennApps hackathon.

Gives a whole new meaning to TV dinners!
