REAL LIFE NEWS: THE DANGERS OF FACEBOOK

by Hazed

I've only recently started using Facebook, and I've already had to remove a couple of people from my friend list because they posted too much bloody drivel about stuff I wasn't interested in. (I don't care if someone is eating a piece of toast or has just washed their hair, and can't imagine why they would think anyone wants to know.)

However, maybe I will be a bit more careful about unfriending in future, after reading this news story.

A woman from Des Moines, Iowa was so incensed when a former friend unfriended her on Facebook that she set fire to her house!

A teacher's associate at a local elementary school, Jennifer Christine Harris was friends with Nikki Rasmussen, and had been maid of honour at her wedding. But when they tried to plan a birthday party for Harris, the two fell out and stopped being pals.

Harris started to post nasty things about Rasmussen on Facebook, the victim said. "I unfriended her and blocked her so I couldn't see what she was saying," she told the local paper, the Des Moines Register.

In response to the unfriending, Harris set fire to the garage of the house where Rasmussen and her hubby lived, which led to the collapse of the garage roof as the structure was engulfed in flame. The couple woke up as the fire began to melt the siding on their home. Fortunately, they escaped with no injuries

Harris was arrested for arson and is now being held in jail.
