FIXING THE GAME'S LAGGING CLOCK

by Hazed

Fed DataSpace has been experiencing time slippage for several years now - the clock on the server runs a little bit slow, which means that it loses time. Over the years, the lost time has added up to a large amount so that the server is now well over an hour slow.

This has the effect of making the daily reset happen later than it should. It's supposed to shut the game down at 1.00pm UK time, 8.00am eastern time - but right now the reset is around 2.30pm in the UK, 9.30am on the east coast. And it's only going to get worse.

So it's time to fix the problem.

Unfortunately it's not just a case of correcting the time on the server. Alan tried to do that once before and it messed up a lot of things in the game which rely on knowing what the time is, and didn't take kindly to the time suddenly changing.

So, thinking laterally, we're going to address the problem a different way. Alan is going to change the time that the reset happens, to 11.30 UK time, 6.30am eastern time.

So the game will perform the reset when it thinks it's 11.30 - which, because of the lagging clock, will put it just after 1.00pm UK time, 8.00am eastern - where it's supposed to be.

This change will happen in two weeks time, on Saturday October 22, so you have a little time to prepare.
