REAL LIFE NEWS: SEE, WE REALLY DID GO TO THE MOON!

by Hazed

NASA has released some amazing pictures taken by the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter which show the Apollo landing sites on the moon. You can clearly see the hardware left behind by the American astronauts.

You can take a look at the pictures by clicking the source link below.

Now, NASA has released this news with the jovial suggestion that the pictures prove that we really did visit the moon in the 1960s and 70s, and that the conspiracy nuts who claim it was all a big hoax will have to back down now in the face of this incontrovertible evidence.

But will they?

Naaaah!

For a start, anyone who believes in conspiracy theories - whether it is the moon landings being faked, the 9/11 "truthers" who believe the American government brought down the twin towers, or the ones who think Elvis faked his death and is still alive, are never going to be swayed by evidence. They have convinced themselves that their position is correct, and no facts are going to shift them. They'll always find ways to explain away inconvenient facts that contradict their views.

But even if that weren't the case... if you believe that NASA has cooked up a giant conspiracy involving faked pictures and film footage, and now NASA comes along with more pictures to prove the original pics were not faked, would you believe them this time? With the improvement in photoshopping technology it's even easier to knock up convincing images of things that never happened. So these new images are not going to convince any conspiracy theorists.

Of course, the pictures are genuine, and they are amazing, but also saddening because it just reminds us that we haven't been back to the moon for so long. By now, we should have a manned base on the moon and be heading for Mars and the other planets.
