REAL LIFE NEWS: NYPD TURNS TO FACEBOOK

by Hazed

I am always featuring stories about how idiot villains shop themselves by boasting on Facebook. Now the New York city police have created a new department with the task of trawling Facebook to watch out for people who talk about crimes they have committed, or use social network sites to plan future offences.

They'll be monitoring Facebook, Twitter and even the no-longer-trendy MySpace. The news release about this new service says they will be looking for info on "troublesome house parties, gang shutdowns, and other potential mayhem", pinpointing those idiot juveniles who don't realize that when they post on Facebook it's not exactly keeping a low profile.

Of course, now the police have announced they will be monitoring the social network sites, maybe the message will get through to even the dumbest of dumb criminals, and they'll find a more secure way to make their plans.

Or maybe not.
