THE STAR TAKES A BREAK

by Hazed

As the summer rolls on, its time for the Fed2 Star to take a break. Not because of summer holidays, but because in real life, the next four weeks are going to be so very busy that I won't have time to do anything other than work, eat and sleep.

Regular readers will know that I work for a college for 16-18 year old students. We're about to embark on the annual enrolment period, where all the new students show up to be enrolled on their courses, and all the returning students come back needing their second year courses confirmed. I play a major role in enrolment, being in charge of the team of 20 staff who enter the students' data onto computers and make sure they have a working timetable by the time lessons start.

So there will be one week of hectic preparation, three weeks of extremely long hours, then another week of panic as we sort out all the problems that come out of enrolment. During the week I won't have time to keep up with all the news sources I follow which give me the stories I write about, and at weekends all I will want to do is sleep late and relax.

This week's issue of the Star is the final one before the break. We'll be gone for four Sundays, and then back in a month, on September 18.

You won't be absolutely bereft of reading matter on Sundays, though, because Alan is going to continue to write his techno column Winding Down, which will be mailed out to the separate Winding Down mailing list as well as appearing on the website at http://www.ibgames.net/alan/winding/.

Enjoy the remains of the summer, darlings, and I'll be back in action in September.
