REAL LIFE NEWS: MAN INJURED BY CANNON

by Hazed

What is it with these re-enactment people getting injured during their mock battles? Last week I told you about the Wild West gunfight that accidentally used real bullets. Now a man taking part in a re-enactment of a World War II battle was injured by an exploding cannon!

Kevin Roche from Boston, Mass, was taking part in the Fourth of July parade, with a group of re-enactors. He was pretending to be a German. An antique cannon that had been loaded with a blank malfunctioned and fired a piece of metal towards him, hitting him in the leg.

A spectator reported, "When the tanks came around the corner, the guns started to go off... and then all of a sudden a re-enactor runs over to the police officer and says, 'We need an ambulance, now!'

"People didn't know what was going on initially. They thought it was all part of the re-enactment."

The cannon was merely a noise-making device that was unable to shoot live ammunition, and had been used hundreds of times before, so the re-enactors are mystified about what went wrong this time.

Mr Roche is expected to make a full recovery.
