REAL LIFE NEWS: THE SILENT GIGby HazedHow do you run a rock concert when there are noise restrictions in the building? You make it a silent gig, that's how. When the band Scouting for Girls were booked for a special promotional event run by Absolute Radio and smart car, the plan was to hold the gig in an exhibition venue in London's Oxo Tower, which is a residential area. The building itself contains offices, restaurants and a gallery, so a noisy band wouldn't have gone down too well. And so, each of the 150 guests was given a headset through which the sound was broadcast. The result: a silent gig. Sounds like a cool idea, although presumably the drumkit still sounded noisy without the headphones - unless they used electronic drums, too!
