REAL LIFE NEWS: STEALTH-CAM CATCHES CROOK

by Hazed

It's dumb criminal time. Hooray! Although in this story, it's not so much that the criminal was stupid, so much as the owner being smart and taking advantage of technology.

A few months back, Joshua Kaufman had his Macbook lifted from his apartment in Oakland, California. Lucky for him, he'd installed a security application on the computer that allowed him to take photographs of the user using the in-built camera, and take screenshots of the computer in use. He started to blog about what the thief was doing and posted images online. As his blog gained in popularity, the cops started to pay attention. Last week the Oakland police swooped and arrested the man shown in the photos using the computer.

The software, called Hidden, cost $15 which turned out to be well worth it!
