REAL LIFE NEWS: DUCT TAPE CATCHES CRIMINAL

by Hazed

I've said it before: duct tape - is there anything it can't do? Just like the force, it has a light side and a dark side and it holds the universe together.

Previously I told you how it was used to restrain a wannabe robber. Now it has sent a criminal to prison.

A 91-year-old man was woken late one night by the sound of some thieves breaking into his house. The two burglars put duct tape on one of the windows in an attempt to stop their break-in being noisy but clearly that didn't work.

The miscreants went into the victim's bedroom and demanded money from him. They found some cash in his trousers, but when the victim began to yell, the criminals took off.

When police arrived, the victim was unable to identify the suspects. But the duct tape left on the window proved its worth, because it had some DNA left on it, which matched one of the criminals: Charles Smallwood, who was known to police for previous offences including breaking and entering.

He's now been sentenced to six years inside, and all thanks to the miracle of duct tape.
