REAL LIFE NEWS: FILM FAN SHOT OVER NOISY EATING

by Hazed

Mobile phones. That's what really annoys me when I go to the cinema. Even when the owner is texting, and not making any noise, the bright shiny thing is visible out of the corner of my eye, distracting me from the screen action. I hate them second only to people who talk during a movie.

Third on my list must be loud eating - crunching of nachos or popcorn, rustling of wrappers... but I am usually too cowardly to say anything.

In Latvia, however, a man has been arrested because he shot a fellow film-goer dead in a dispute over loud food noises. The film playing was the Oscar-hopeful Black Swan. One man remonstrated with another over the noise he was making eating his popcorn. The muncher was enraged by this interference with his human right to eat what he wanted as loudly as he wanted, so he waited till the end of the film, then pulled out a gun and killed the poor guy.

Other audience members piled in and restrained him until the police could arrive and cuff him. The perp is, apparently, a graduate of the police academy who holds a doctorate in law from the University of Latvia. All that education, and he didn't know shooting someone was illegal?
