THE FIRST BLISH CITIES LAUNCHby HazedBreaking news: The first Blish cities were launched yesterday, and our droid-on-the-spot has just sent us this report from the graving dock in the Havefun cartel: The formal naming celebration was quite an affair. Diesel travelled all the way from Mars to smash a bottle of Old Peculiar against the city's keel. "I name this city Ribeye," she announced to the owner, Bourbon, the crowd of workers who helped build the city, the population expected to crew it, and other onlookers. There should have been roars of approval, but in space, no-one can hear you cheer! Also launching yesterday was Oddball's Aurora in Chicago cartel. A robot facsimile of Bella attended and smashed a bottle of champagne against the newly created city, sprinkling just a few drops on the buildings before drinking the rest. Dunsguns' Armory cartel was graced by the presence of Galactic heart-throb holostar Brix Chanterel to celebrate the launch of its city, Magnum. Hordes of screaming fans drowned out the speech he made, then broke through the security barriers to accost their hero, tearing off most of his clothes before he could be carried to safety by his security droids. The three Plutocrats have earned themselves a place in the Hall of Fame (and Shame) for launching the first Blish cities. |
