What happens if you drink beer in microgravity? We're about to find out, thanks to a joint venture between a space engineering firm and a brewery, who plan to test a new brew to see if it can be certified for consumption in space.

Saber Astronautics Australia and 4 Pines Brewing Company, also from Australia, have teamed up to develop a beer that will be aimed at the growing space tourism industry. Testing will begin in November on board one of those vomit-comet airplanes which fly in a series of parabolic arcs that simulate the effect of weightlessness. The tests will consist of... well, drinking the beer and seeing what happens, by recording such things as body temperature, heart rate and blood alcohol content. Of course, the taste and drinkability will also be recorded.
