REAL LIFE NEWS: THE LETTUCE-HEAD E-FIT

by Hazed

For some reason, all the real life news stories so far have involved police - so continuing with the trend, we have the entertaining story that all the British newspapers have covered this week, about how technology can go very wrong indeed.

Police in Hampshire used software to put together an e-fit picture of a burglary suspect, but in the resulting image the criminal appeared to have lettuce for hair! Take a look at the picture here.

This salad-head is accused of stealing £60 from an elderly victim, and he was described as between 40 and 45 years old, with a round, clean-shaven face and large round eyes. Nothing in the description about lettuce leaves for hair, though!

The good news is that the picture has been disseminated far and wide as the British media have had huge fun reporting the story. The bad news is that not a single person phoned in a lead about the burglar's identity or whereabouts.

The police said that they were waiting for a software upgrade to improve the quality of their e-fit images. It is clearly overdue!
