REAL LIFE NEWS: MAN TRAPPED IN DRAIN

A drunken man fell into a canal in Eugene, Oregon, and from there climbed into a storm drain, according to reports last week. Once in the drain, he crawled more than two miles, spending more than three hours underground.

It was then that a South Eugene resident who was tending her backyard garden heard the sound of a man screaming for help, early on Friday morning, around 6.30am. She discovered that a man was trapped in her backyard storm drain - so she called police.

The fire service responded to the emergency call, broke the concrete around the manhole and lifted the man safely out of the drain. He was taken to hospital with hypothermia-like symptoms, but was reported to be uninjured.

Except that his pride must be really bent out of shape - he will never live this down!
