REAL LIFE NEWS: WOMEN BLAMES GOOGLE FOR TRAFFIC KNOCKDOWN

by Hazed

A women from LA is suing Google because, she claims, its mapping service encouraged her to walk along a high speed State Route in Utah - where she was knocked down by a passing vehicle.

An article in the Salt Lake City Tribune says that Lauren Rosenberg's complaint involves her use of Google Maps on her Blackberry, to get directions to walk from 96 Daly Ave to 1710 Prospector Ave in Park City.

Wait a minute - I thought Americans never walked anywhere; they always travelled by car!

Anyway, the route she was given took her through an area, the suit says, "where vehicles travel at a high rate of speed and [is] devoid of pedestrian sidewalks." One of these high speed vehicles hit her and knocked her down, "causing her to suffer severe physical, emotional and mental injuries... and causing her to incur medical expenses in an amount exceeding $100,000."

Naturally, she is suing the driver, but she's also suing Google for not warning her that the route they provided was dangerous.

Perhaps she should also sue herself for failing to apply common sense, and stop walking along a highway clearly not designed for pedestrians!
