REAL LIFE NEWS: BREAST IMPLANTS STOP BULLET

by Hazed

A woman from California has had her life saved by her breast implants. The D-cup silicon inserts stopped a round from a semi-automatic rifle when she was caught up in a fatal shooting incident last year.

In July, Lydia Carranza was working as the receptionist in a dentist's office in Los Angeles when the estranged husband of one of her co-workers burst in with a rifle. He shot his wife's brother in the stomach, then killed his wife, before turning the weapon on the other workers. Carranza was hit in the arm, and despite her playing dead, the crazed gunman then shot her again in the chest at point-blank range.

Now, the Beverly Hills plastic surgeon who has offered to reconstruct her chest claims it was the breast implant that saved her life. The CT scan showed "the bullet fragments were millimeters from her heart and her vital organs. Had she not had the implant, she might not be alive today."

Wow. Lucky woman. Meanwhile, the murderer Jaime Paredes is being held without bail on "numerous counts including murder and premeditated attempted murder" according to the LA Times.
