REAL LIFE NEWS: LAVA CAVE MINERALS ARE ACTUALLY MICROBE WASTE

Or, as one scientist entertainingly called them, bug poop. It seems that deposits of colorful substances on cave walls which were thought to be minerals are actually waste from microbes which have previously been unknown.

The microbes were found on the walls of lava tubes in Hawaii, New Mexico, and the Portuguese Azores islands, a volcanic archipelago in the Atlantic Ocean.
