REAL LIFE NEWS: SLOW MOTION GETAWAY

by Hazed

A gang of jewel thieves were caught after executing their heist because the getaway driver refused to break the speed limit.

It all happened in Guildford, Surrey, a town in southern England. Robbers burst into Simon Pure Jewellery Design in the town center and terrorized two women shop assistants before making off with £60,000 worth of gems. They jumped into their getaway vehicle, a stolen high speed Alfa Romeo, and sped off.

Passers by noted down the registration number of the vehicle and the police soon gave chase in squad cars, supported by the force helicopter overhead. But it turned out not to be a high speed chase, because the driver, Neil Murray from Tottenham in London, took his foot off the gas every time they went through restricted areas.

Police soon caught up and arrested the gang within 30 mins. Now they are in jail serving sentences for robbery. But not for speeding.
