EVENT EDITOR RELEASED FOR PLAYERS

by Hazed

And so to the main news of the week.

The event editor, which allows POs to make fun things happen on their planets, has been released for players. You can now download it and start working through the lessons to write some events for your planet. There's also a new version of the Tesla planet checker which will look at your event file and tell you about some of the things you might do wrong.

The event editor is part of the Advanced Workbench (the Basic Workbench is the location editor you use to make the planet map, and the message editor). Right now, the Advanced Workbench just contains the event editor, but eventually it will also include the object editor so you can add objects and mobiles to your planet.

You can download the event editor here. The same page lets you download the Advanced Workbench Manual, which explains how to use the event editor. Now, I know people never read manuals... but in this case, you really do need the manual. Writing events is complicated and you will not be able to figure it out on your own - if you try to do without the manual you will get into a terrible mess.

Note: I have just uploaded a new version of the Advanced Workbench Manual which corrects some typos and adds a bit more explanation here and there, so if you've already downloaded it, you should go and get the update.

You can get the new version of Tesla for Windows here.
