FEDPARDY!

Tuesday September 22
by Fancy-Fancy, Technocrat of Toontown

Four people arrived for tonight's edition of FEDPARDY! in Studio 1. Squeeky, Jasmine, Valtralys, and Meteu all came to the studio. I went over the rules for those who needed them. I then revealed tonight's categories, which were: Dial M for Murder; Knit one, Pearl two; Business & Industry; and Literature in Fed. Spins of the wheel left Jasmine with the first selection, and she started by picking Knit one, Pearl two for 1.

Squeeky got the correct question to that answer and gained control. The 2 and 3 point answers in the category went untried, and then Squeeky found the first of two Daily Doubles under the 4 point answer. Squeeky settled on a 1-point wager, and this was the answer:

The actual name of the station is Yohkoh XVIII, a Japanese word for this. The people who work there are referred to by the same term.

Squeeky responded, "What is Pearl?", but that was incorrect. Sunbeam was the correct word there. Jasmine attempted the 5-point answer, but missed, losing 5 points before getting one back in the "Dial M" category. Continuing with Dial M, Squeeky tried the 2 but missed, but then scored the 1-pointer in Business & Industry, then the 3-pointer in Dial M. The 4-pointer in Dial M was selected, but not attempted to finish the first half, which saw Squeeky ahead with 2 points, to -4 for Jasmine, and 0 for everyone else.

With all remaining point values doubled, Jasmine got the first selection of Double Fedpardy. She chose Business & Industry for 4, which Squeeky tried, but missed. Jasmine started Literature in Fed for 2, and Squeeky rang in on that, too, but got it wrong. Squeeky fared better when Jasmine next chose Dial M for 10, getting that one correct to get out of the hole and back on the plus side. Squeeky selected Business & Industry for 6, then 8, then 10, with nobody trying any of them. Squeeky's selections then went through Literature in Fed in order, with no ringing in on the 4, 6, or 10, while the 8-pointer was the second Daily Double. Squeeky decided to wager just one point on the Daily Double, and this was the answer:

This publisher puts out titles such as Venusian Babes, Martian Maids, and Readers' Droids. Their office also sports a centerfold from Raunchy Rigellians, looking suspiciously like Bella baring all.

Squeeky thought and thought, but couldn't come up with Dirty Boy Productions for that one. After the last of the Literature in Fed answers, we came to the end of Double Fedpardy. Squeeky had 5 points, Jasmine -4, and everyone else zero.

Squeeky advanced alone to Final Fedpardy, with the category of Announcements. Squeeky decided its wager, I went through the usual information on Final Fedpardy, and Squeeky was eager to go. This was the Final Fedpardy answer:

On Rhea, you might hear the tannoy chime, and a crazed voice comes over it saying it wants these, before it gets abruptly cut off.

At the end of 60 seconds, we took a look at what Squeeky wrote - "what are asperagus?" A nice guess, but an incorrect one. The crazed voice is looking for brains. Squeeky bet all 5 points, dropping to zero, but was still this week's winner.

Congratulations to Squeeky, and thanks to Jasmine, Valtralys, and Meteu for also playing. Join us again October 6 at 10.00pm eastern (03:00 server time) for the next edition of FEDPARDY! And don't forget the Fed Phrase Game September 29, same time, same location.
