REAL LIFE NEWS: GPS GUIDES WRECKERS TO WRONG HOUSE

by Hazed

Speaking of GPS, here's a story which tops all of those "my sat nav told me to drive into the river" tales. A Georgia man was aghast to discover that his house had been knocked down in error because the wrecking crew had used a GPS location to identify the property.

Al Byrd had lived in his family home, which his father had lovingly built "brick by brick", all his life. It was filled with memories and with precious heirlooms. So he was shocked when someone called him to let him know the house had been demolished.

The building had been flattened by a wrecking company, working on behalf of another unnamed Texas company. They had no actual street address for the property, but had simply been given the GPS location. Byrd reckons it was actually the house across the street that was the correct target for the wrecking ball.

You can see a slideshow of the wreckage that is all that's left here.

I sincerely hope that Byrd is going to sue the ass off the company that sent out these incompetent wreckers with such inadequate instructions!
