REAL LIFE NEWS: TURNING WINE INTO WATER

by Hazed

An Italian wine is being recalled in the Canadian state of Ontario, but not because it's laced with poisonous substances, tastes revolting or is otherwise tainted. Far from it, in fact. No, it turns out that some bottles of 2007 D'Aquino Pinot Grigio delle Venezie contain nothing but... water!

Geore Soleas of the Ontario Liquor Control Board - he's the vice-president of quality assurance - said that "the chemical testing we have done, that was quite extensive, shows it is just tap water." He added, "I didn't want to have people surprised on Christmas Eve or New Year's Eve opening this product and finding water instead of wine."

Apparently the watery wine was not because anyone had tampered with the bottles, but was due to a problem at the bottling plant where the bottles are flushed out with water.

Anyone returning bottles to the LBCO will get a full refund.
