FED PHRASE GAME

Tuesday December 9
by Fancy-Fancy, Technocrat of Toontown

Four players joined me in Studio 1 for tonight's Fed Phrase Game. Munabilo, Trilleth, Galaxyxpress, and Andrew all showed up. Trilleth also put up a slithy tove for the winner as a sweetener. Mentioning that this game is played like that old Earth TV game show Wheel of Fortune was enough for our new players to know how to play, so we went about setting the playing order. Trilleth won the first slot, followed by Andrew, then Galaxyxpress, then Munabilo.

Tonight's first puzzle was 6 word things (6, 8, 11, 3, 6, and 2 letters). Trilleth was up first to start it, and started by placing a T, 5 N's, a D, and then bought the A's. Her next spin she called a Y that ended her turn. Andrew took over and promptly picked up a Free Spin with an S, then added some points with a pair of R's for 1000 each, and three L's before a missing B stopped him. He decided to use his free spin to continue his turn and found a pair of P's, then bought an O, but there were none in the puzzle. Galaxy found 4 G's, then missed with an F. Munabilo's first spin landed on Lose a Turn. Trilleth spun and called W, but there weren't any of those, either. Nor C for Andrew. Galaxy then hit a Bankrupt, and Munabilo got the puzzle back. It decided to solve right away, and did so - eating, sleeping, quarrelling and making up - for the house minimum 250 points for a round.

The puzzle for Round 2 was 4 word people (7, 9, 8, and 6 letters), and we were back to Trilleth to start the puzzle. She found a T for 100, two N's for 500 each, and 4 R's for 1000 each, only to have the next spin land on Bankrupt and wipe it all out. Andrew spun another Bankrupt on his ensuing turn. Galaxy found an S for 750, followed by a Lose a Turn. Munabilo placed D, G, L, I's, E's, K's, and O's, before buying an A that was not in the puzzle. Trilleth got the puzzle back and decided to solve it right away, and did so successfully - workers furtively drinking coffee - for the house minimum 250.

That set up our third, and as it turned out, final puzzle we had time for tonight, 4 word people (7, 9, 8, and 6 letters). It was very likely that whoever solved the puzzle would be the overall winner, barring a third different player solving for the house minimum. Andrew was up first for a crack at this puzzle, and started off finding 4 T's for 600 each, followed by an S and R for 750 each. His luck ran out with a Bankrupt on the next spin, though. Galaxy tried an N, but there weren't any. Nor any D's for Munabilo. Trilleth got a chance at the puzzle and placed an F for 600. Then she bought the O's and I before spinning again and landing on 1000. She found a G for 1000, then L for another 1000 on her next spin. She bought a U, then the E's, then spun 600 and found two H's. At that point, Trilleth decided to solve - if they ever got loose, watch out - for 2800 points.

With that solution, Trilleth became tonight's big winner with 3050 points, breaking the tie with Munabilo at 250 points. That also won the slithy tove she put up for tonight's winner. Congratulations to Trilleth and Munabilo on their solves, and thanks to Galaxy and Andrew who also played tonight. Join us again December 23 for our next edition of the Fed Phrase Game. And join us on the 16th for FEDPARDY! Both start at 10.00pm eastern Tuesday night.
